Kammermusik-Matinee 03. Dez

"Im Fluss" is the theme of this season's chamber music matinees. This inspired our musicians around Christian Proske to reflect on the return and reference of composers to old forms of composition. In the Romantic and Modern periods, these are often found in neo-baroque or neo-classical movements. So it's about the flow of time, or the flow of time. The starting point was Saint-Saëns' Septet op. 65, in which the composer explored French traditions of the 17th century and stylistically oriented himself towards suite movements from the Baroque period. From this, a programme has emerged that presents several facets of the reference to past musical styles: While Handel's Suite is a well-known original Baroque composition, Gouinguené's 1995 Concerto follows, a contemporary yet traditionally "classical" work written in the style of Mozart. Suk referred to an old Bohemian chorale in his meditation. Finally, Saint-Saëns' Septet is considered a pioneer of numerous works in the neo-baroque style and depicts the "flow(s) of time" particularly artfully.
