Piano recital: Francesco Piemontesi
Vier Impromptus op. post. 142 D 935
Pause Franz Liszt Klaviersonate h-Moll
Every concert is different, says the internationally acclaimed Ticino pianist Francesco Piemontesi. And: he always goes on stage "to convey something that is really important". Last season, he did this in the joint Rachmaninov cycle of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and Zurich Opera House - and showed that crazy virtuosity and sensitive musicality are by no means mutually exclusive. Now he returns for a recital. The programme includes works by Schubert and Liszt - in other words, by two almost opposing composer personalities. Liszt obviously appreciated his older colleague, however, as he arranged a number of Schubert songs and thus contributed to their popularity. And that they both had important things to convey in their music: this will undoubtedly be audible in this concert.
