DESCRIPTION:Gustav Mahler had no idea that there would one day be a format called tonhalleCRUSH. But he was well aware of the concept of a confrontation of different styles. He incorporated ländler and klezmer sounds into his First Symphony, and the canon "Frère Jacques" becomes a funeral march in a minor-key version. Paavo Järvi now conducts and comments on this symphony. And afterwards, orchestral musicians in the foyer show that they are also happy to play completely different styles.
