The Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili is 26 years old. And his career path makes him a perfect fit for the cross-genre tonhalleLATE series: initially, a professional career was not on his mind; he was primarily interested in arranging Georgian folk songs and pop songs. Now he is performing the solo part in Ravel’s hugely popular Piano Concerto in G major. Before that, Paavo Järvi will conduct Beethoven’s ‘Fidelio’ Overture. And afterwards, it’s once again ‘classic meets electronic’ – with the party continuing into the early hours of the morning.
