See You Soon With #bebeethoven, Felix!

Felix Mildenberger was Paavo Järvis Assistant Conductor in his first year as Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich.

Having a second pair of ears in the hall is, according to Paavo Järvi, a win-win situation for both sides: for the boss as well as for the assistant, who in turn gains a great deal of insight into a world that is known more theoretically from his studies. «How does Paavo rehearse? What does he focus on? When does he insist? These are questions to which one can look for answers across several projects.» He also gained valuable insights into the planning and running of the concerts themselves.

Now Felix Mildenberger looks back on the seven weeks here in Zurich instead of the planned fourteen - although Corona has shortened his assistance, he says: «I carry the time here and the wonderful sound of this orchestra with me, from dark and warm to light and full of charm and flair», it is this great flexibility that is to be found here.

Already in October he will return and conduct the third and last edition of #bebeethoven at the Tonhalle Maag: An innovative project which, in the spirit of Beethoven's 250th birthday, breaks all conventions of the concert business and experiments with music and space. An insight into his work is provided by the film portrait on the occasion of a family concert by the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich: Felix Mildenberger conducted Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker.
