Prokofiev's «Romeo and Juliet» – «Classic of the Classics»
Shakespeare's «Romeo and Juliet» is one of the most famous love stories of all.
No wonder, it has also inspired numerous composers: Sergei Prokofiev, for example, whose ballet music «Romeo and Juliet» has also established itself in concert halls in the form of various orchestral suites. The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, conducted by Krysztof Urbański, will play three of these suites on New Year's Eve – and of course the «Dance of the Knights», the most popular piece of ballet music and one of the best-known classical melodies of all, must not be missing.
Here Cathrin Kudelka plays this melody. And she tells us why she is looking forward to this performance.
